Workboats Consulting, in partnership with the Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE), has successfully completed a comprehensive warship design consultancy service for the Estonian Centre for Defence Investments (ECDI). The work marks a critical milestone in Estonia’s ambitions to modernise its naval fleet and strengthen maritime defence capabilities in the Baltic region.
Warship design consultancy from concept to capability
Our consultancy covered the full scope of early-phase warship design. Starting with strategic needs analysis and progressing through system architecture, integration planning, and concept development. The focus was to define what kind of multipurpose naval vessel would best serve Estonia’s defence needs.
We delivered an in-depth research on regional conditions, operational scenarios, and technical feasibility. From weapon and sensor integration to system architecture and multipurpose capabilities, every detail was examined to ensure the final concept is both realistic and future-proof.

The proposed vessel concept is shaped by Estonia’s defence priorities and the unique operational demands of the Baltic Sea. Estonia is transitioning away from traditional minehunters towards more versatile platforms.
